{"id":1616,"date":"2025-01-23T17:06:30","date_gmt":"2025-01-24T01:06:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/?p=1616"},"modified":"2025-01-23T17:58:55","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T01:58:55","slug":"adamant-ussep-investor-perk-conflict-resolution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/adamant-ussep-investor-perk-conflict-resolution\/","title":{"rendered":"Adamant, USSEP, and the Investor Perk: A Journey in Conflict Resolution"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.uesp.net\/wiki\/Skyrim:Speech#Investor\">Investor<\/a> perk allows you to &#8220;invest 500 gold with a shopkeeper to increase his available gold permanently,&#8221; which is, in addition to being very gender-specific, and not really at all how investment works, is a pretty great perk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Investing 500 gold into a business with the&nbsp;<em>Investor<\/em>&nbsp;perk immediately increases their current gold by 500. Investing is as simple as speaking to a merchant NPC and selecting the &#8216;I want to invest in your business&#8217; option. This can only be done at the same time of day as they would normally allow sales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.uesp.net\/wiki\/Skyrim:Speech#Investor\">UESP.net<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>What&#8217;s Adamant Do? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adamant improves Investor by increasing the amouunt of Gold the vendor has beyond 500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is the vanilla Investor perk record next to the same record in Adamant. <code>Investor \"Investor\" [PERK:00058F7B]<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"262\" src=\"https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-35-1024x262.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-35-1024x262.png 1024w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-35-300x77.png 300w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-35-768x196.png 768w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-35-1536x393.png 1536w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-35-2048x524.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We can see that Adamant&#8217;s modifications include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Changes the <code>EDID - Editor ID<\/code> from <code>Investor<\/code> to <code>MAG_Investor<\/code> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Updates the Description, removing any mention of a specific amount of gold (500 in this case)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Modifies the Conditions which allow you to purchase the perk in the first place.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Changes the Merchant perk requirement to Supply and Demand (new in Adamant)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increases minimum Speech value to 80 from 70.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Vanilla Investor\/Vendor Mistake<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>If you believe the USSEP crew there are a handful of NPCs who you <em>should <\/em>be able to invest in that, at least in vanilla, you cannot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BlackPete addresses this on <a href=\"https:\/\/afktrack.afkmods.com\/index.php?a=issues&amp;i=19805\">this USLEEP bug report <\/a>way back in 2016 (crossing out an incorrect reply to someone who asked why they couldn&#8217;t use the Investment perk on street vendors):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><s>The game text claims that &#8220;any&#8221; merchant should be able to be invested in so this is something that should be investigated further. It appears that there is audio for all voice types, so this should be possible to address.<\/s><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ve examined this more thoroughly and discovered that the game actually says &#8220;shopkeeper&#8221; which would indicate one of two things: 1. A shopkeeper with a physical building to their name. 2. A court wizard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means that the four street vendors in Riften (Brand-Shei, Grelka, Madesi, and Marise) should not have been fixed to begin with and the same goes with Anoriath in Whiterun. So those should actually be undone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following NPCs (who currently cannot be invested in) would follow the criteria that the developers use though and should be fixed:<br>&#8211; Falion (Morthal)<br>&#8211; Filnjar (Shor&#8217;s Stone)<br>&#8211; Madena (Dawnstar)<br>&#8211; Moth gro-Bagol (Markarth)<br>&#8211; Glover Mallory (Raven Rock)<br><s>&#8211; Elynea Mothren (Tel Mithryn)<\/s>&nbsp;Edit: her voice type doesn&#8217;t have any audio available<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s how USSEP fixes that issue:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"439\" src=\"https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-38-1024x439.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1606\" srcset=\"https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-38-1024x439.png 1024w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-38-300x129.png 300w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-38-768x329.png 768w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-38-1536x659.png 1536w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-38-2048x878.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How the Investor Perk Works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Investor perk works by adding an entry to the <code>Items<\/code> field of the merchant&#8217;s chest record. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is the vanilla <code>Container<\/code> record for Radiant Raiments&#8217;s chest in Solitude (<code>MerchantSolitudeRadiantRaiments \"Chest\" [CONT:000A6C04]<\/code>). You can see the highlighted line, which references <code>PerkInvestorSolitudeTailorList [LVLI:000AC970]<\/code>, a <code>LVLI - Leveled List<\/code> record.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"787\" src=\"https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-39-1024x787.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1608\" srcset=\"https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-39-1024x787.png 1024w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-39-300x231.png 300w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-39-768x591.png 768w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-39-1536x1181.png 1536w, https:\/\/upstairsempire.xyz\/dii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-39.png 1541w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s take a closer look.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><code>PerkInvestorSolitudeTailorList<\/code> is an unusual record because, though it&#8217;s a <code>LVLI - Leveled List<\/code> type, it doesn&#8217;t function as a traditional list, and only contains a single <strong>Leveled List Entry<\/strong> (what kind of list contains only one item?). The left pane of this image shows only <em>some <\/em>of them. And if you review the right side, you&#8217;ll see that the actual Leveled List Entry references the same record: <code>PerkInvestorStoreUpgrade [LVLI:000ABD99]<\/code>.
